Bus Driver (Part-time)

Staff position:  Bus Driver
FLSA status:  Non-exempt
Reports to:  Youth Program Director

Position Summary:
The bus driver will perform a safety check of his/her bus before traveling each day.  Responsible for maintaining the fuel in their bus and for being punctual.  Will follow their designated route and safely transport campers from school or to and from field trips to the Henderson Family YMCA. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests and program participants.

Essential Functions:

  • Bus drivers are required to run a specific bus route and pick up Y

  • Permanent drivers need to be available for early release days and all school days

  • Substitute drivers need to be available in the absence of permanent drivers
  • Daily responsibilities include a bus check of tires, gas and oil,  walking through the bus and checking for items left behind, locking the bus with the emergency brake engaged and returning keys to the key box
  • Drivers should sweep the bus no less than twice a week

Position Summary:
Organizes and implements high quality program(s) within the Youth Development Department.

Essential Functions:

  • Greet campers and parents with a smile.
  •  Assist with group activities, bathroom monitoring, changing for swim and swim time, snack time and lunch. Play and interact with campers and promote the YMCA character traits. 
  • Never assume complete control of a group.

Custodial Attendant (Part-time)

Position Summary:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Custodial Attendant maintains a supportive, positive attitude and delivers excellent service to all members, guests and program participants.  Responds to member and guest needs and maintains cleanliness and organization of the YMCA building.

Essential Functions:

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, clean, and dust surfaces as needed to keep all assigned areas inside of the building orderly, clean, and sanitized.
  • Keep the locker rooms in an orderly and presentable condition and the floors free of excess water.
  • Check and empty all trash cans and receptacles.
  • Replace soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, and other supplies as needed.
  • Replace and monitor cleaning and maintenance supplies and notify director when replenishment is needed.

Lifeguard (Part-time)

Staff position:  Lifeguard
FLSA status:  Non-exempt
Reports to:  Aquatics Director


Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Aquatics, the Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons in the aquatics area. Delivers excellent customer service to all members, guests, and program participants. Promotes all aquatic programs and activities. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the entire aquatics area. Responsible for managing the functions of the aquatics area in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff and Board of Directors.

Essential Functions:

  • Protect lives and ensure patron safety. You are responsible for each life that is in the pool area. Be Alert, Be Diligent, Be Conscientious and Be Consistent
  • Report directly to the Director of Aquatics.
  • Participate in in-service training and staff meetings as scheduled by the Director of Aquatics.
  • Report to duty 10 minutes before start time to receive information from the outgoing lifeguard.
  • Maintain the proper dress code assigned, always including hip pack and rescue tube.
  • Lifeguard must be in the lifeguard chair at all times when pool is occupied.
  • Ensure that all records and lifeguard certifications are up to date.
  • Perform appropriate patron surveillance and appropriate rescues as taught.
  • Complete all tasks assigned.
  • Enforce all pool and spa rules consistently.
  • Maintain positive interaction with patrons of all ages.
  • Assist in pool operations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Maintain records for all daily chemical checks and opening/closing procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 16 years of age preferred
  • Valid driver license
  • Lifeguard/First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
  • Blood borne pathogens training required

  • Dress appropriately; YMCA Lifeguard t-shirt or sweatshirt should be worn at all times. A one piece or tankini swim suit for females and swimming trunks for males is also required at all times. Personal Trainer (Part-time)

Staff position:  Personal Trainer/Fitness Coaching

Position Summary:
Develop, organize and implement high quality YMCA programs.

Essential Functions:

Wellness Center

  • Under the supervision of the Wellness/ Fitness Director, facilitate personal training /coaching sessions when required.
  • Schedule basic orientations for new members when needed.
  • Work with Wellness/ Fitness director to develop programs for new clients.
  • Communicate clear verbal skills
  • Exhibit good time management skills, meeting with clients on time and documenting all future meeting times at the end of each session.
  • Monitor equipment & notify correct personnel of any equipment failure and/or breakages, as well as any cleanliness issues within the wellness center & free weight room. Monitor both rooms. Making sure they are neat and all equipment is returned to its proper place.
  • Keep cleaning solution filled and clean towels available in these areas.
  • Keep member workout programs filed in wellness center filing cabinet.
  • Meet with supervisor on an as needed basis regarding client need.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years related experience preferred
  • Personal Training certification preferred
  • Completion of all relevant paperwork upon hiring
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications

Group Fitness Instructor (Part-time)

Staff position:  Group Instructor (Wellness/Fitness/Aquatics)
FLSA status:  Non-exempt
Reports to:  Health and Wellness Director


Position Summary:
Instruct group classes; provide excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead group classes to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. 
  • Conduct energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes. 
  • Build effective relationships with members; help members connect with each other and the YMCA. 
  • Maintain working knowledge of class and trends to provide effective information and support to members. 
  • Keep accurate class attendance records. 
  • Keep up with time card 
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. 
  • Dress in appropriate attire for class 
  • Responsible for ensuring the aerobics room is clean. Placing all equipment back in its place, and turning all lights off. 
  • Arrange a substitute when absent 
  • All instructors will be financially responsible for their initial certification. The YMCA may assist with renewal CEC's to keep their certification updated and active. All instructors will sign a non-compete contract should they seek financial assistance from the Y to maintain their certification. Those choosing to be financially independent regarding their certification will not have to sign a non-compete contract. 
  • All instructors will be expected to attend 2 mandatory staff meetings per year.

Qualifications: 

  • Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED
  • Certification in areas of expertise. 
  • Must have current driver’s license

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Development, the Kids Zone Attendant is responsible for leading program activities and delivering excellent customer service to all members, guests, and program participants. The Kids Zone Attendant is responsible for managing the functions of the program in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff and Board of Directors.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains the safety of each child in the Kids Zone program; ensures the parent/guardian remains in the facility during the duration of the stay.
  • Greets everyone as they enter the Kids Zone program; provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the facility.
  • Maintains awareness of safety procedures and policies.
  • Keeps accurate, written attendance records and ensures children arrive and depart with a parent/guardian. No child can be released without an approved parent/guardian.
  • Ensures that each parent/guardian completes/signs the emergency pick-up form and is aware of the rules.
  • Keeps the equipment and play areas clean.
  • Recognizes that the success of the YMCA depends on all staff working together and being a team player means willingness to assist other staff members in doing whatever is required to make the YMCA successful.
  • Plans activities for each night according to the posted Kids Zone schedule. Communicates with the supervisor regarding needs including supplies, games, etc.
  • Arrives to work on time to prepare for the beginning of each evening.
  • Actively engages participants for the duration of each evening.
  • Disciplines children as necessary to ensure the safety of all participants. Report any issues to the appropriate parent/guardian, and to the supervisor, if follow-up is necessary.

Membership Desk Associate (Part-time)

Staff position:  Membership Desk Associate

Position Summary:
Deliver excellent service to all members, guests and program participants. Respond to member and guest needs, promote membership and programs, and maintain cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.

Essential Functions: 

  • Greet everyone as they enter the facility; provide excellent service to members, guests and program participants in the facility and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  • Answer telephone in a professional, courteous manner; answer questions, forward calls and take messages as necessary.
  • Tour prospective members; sell memberships explaining benefits and expectations of membership.
  • Identify members through software as they enter; identify guests appropriately and ensure proper identification and registration.
  • Build relationships with members; help members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
  • Handle and resolve membership concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Complete registration process for all programs; always maintain and balance cash drawer; balance money with transaction report at the end of each shift.
  • Apply all YMCA policies dealing with member services and the YMCA facility; maintain safety procedures and follow Emergency Action Plan when necessary.
  • Hand out locker keys and towels.
  • Full-time staff maintains stock of membership packets and brochures. Full and Part-time staff opens and closes the YMCA – staff should arrive within appropriate time to include unlocking the building, turning on lights in all areas except pool (aquatics staff will open pool area); prepare the front desk area before facility opens to members; ensure the building is empty at closing including locker rooms, check all exit doors, turn off all lights and set the alarm when leaving.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Youth Development, the Nursery Attendant is responsible for responding to needs in the nursery and ensures the safety of all participants. Delivers excellent customer service to all members, guests, and program participants.  The Nursery Attendant is responsible for managing the functions of the program in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff and Board of Directors.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains the safety of each child in the nursery; ensures the parent/guardian remains in the facility during the duration of the nursery stay.
  • Greets everyone as they enter the nursery; provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the facility.
  • Maintains awareness of safety procedures and policies.
  • Ensures that each parent/guardian signs the nursery policy and is aware of the rules.
  • Keeps accurate attendance records with arrival and departure times. Ensures that children arrive and depart with a parent/guardian.
  • Supervises infants, toddlers, and children.
  • Changes diapers/gives bottles, if necessary, with parents written consent.
  • Keeps the nursery equipment and play area clean.
  • Recognizes that the success of the YMCA depends on all staff working together and being a team player means willingness to assist other staff members in doing whatever is required to make the YMCA successful.

Wellness Attendant (Part-time)

Staff position:  Wellness Attendant

Reports to:  Health and Wellness Director

Position Summary:

Develop, organize and implement high quality YMCA program(s)

Essential Functions:

  • Become familiar with our new member orientation process.
  • Communicate with wellness coordinator regarding the day’s events and upcoming appointments/activities.
  • Follow through with all scheduled member appointments, allowing one hour for each orientation.
  • Schedule future appointments with availability of staff taken into consideration.
  • Evaluate member weight sheets, guiding them when deemed necessary and contacting them when member participation is down.
  • Clean and upkeep of all machines within the wellness center and free weight room. Advise correct staff of any equipment issues.
  • Ensure wellness center paperwork/member sheets are available at all times in the filing cabinet.
  • At the end of each shift WCA will ensure that both wellness center/free weight room are clean and tidy. ALL weights are to be returned to their correct place, ensure that antibacterial/cleaning solution bottles are full, and clean towels are in place.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid
  • One to two years related experience preferred
